At the Tuesday evening meeting of the Lincoln City Council, aldermen were introduced to three candidates who would be interested in filling the position of Ward 2 alderman, vacant with the resignation of Kathy Horn. Ron Fleshman, Georgia Allison and Sam Downs each took the speakers chair to introduce themselves, talk about why they wanted to serve the city, and offer any thoughts they had on what they could "bring to the table." Mayor Seth Goodman said he would seek out the opinions of the individual aldermen and plans to have a decision by the end of the week. If so, a new alderman could be sworn in next week. Next week's council meeting will be held on Tuesday due to the Monday President's Day holiday.

Sunday afternoon saw a large turnout at the Lincoln Park District Parent/Child Sweetheart Dance. The event grows in popularity each year with entire families turning out for the event, and it is also attracting the older children who also enjoyed the afternoon of dance and quality time spent with parents. This year, the dance brought in approximately 130 people in family groups.
