[NOV. 28, 2003]  ^"College is an investment that pays off. … Over a lifetime, the gap in earnings between those with a high school diploma and those with a B.A. or higher exceeds $1,000,000,” according to the College Board’s "Trends in Student Aid 2003." In today’s job market, people need a college education more than ever. Yet, many people find the task of planning their postsecondary education to be overwhelming.

The “Top 10 Planning Steps for College” plan prepared by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission provides useful college planning information for Illinois residents. A timeline shows which steps students should complete at each grade leading up to college. A list of college planning resources, regardless of your stage in the planning process, is also outlined.
