Lincoln Christian signs 6-foot-7 center     Send a link to a friend

[JULY 8, 2003]  John Searby, head men's basketball coach at Lincoln Christian College, recently announced the signing of 6-foot-7 center Travis Chase of St. Clair, Mo., to a national letter of intent to play men's basketball at LCC.

Chase comes from a long history of basketball success in the state of Missouri. His grandfather was a two-time state champion coach at Branson High School and was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. Travis has carried on that tradition of basketball excellence, starting for three years on the highly successful St. Clair High School teams coached by Dino McKinney.

A 1997 graduate of St. Clair High School, Chase was one of five seniors to score over 500 career points. In his senior year, he was all-area honorable mention and played several all-star games.

"We are extremely pleased that Travis has chosen to finish his education at Lincoln Christian College," says Searby. "Travis is going to be an asset to our campus, not only on the court but also in the community."

Chase is also excited about joining the Preacher basketball program. "I am very excited for the chance to play for coach Searby," he says. "I chose LCC because of the chance to be surrounded by Christian students and teachers ... and I am looking forward to being extremely successful."

The son of Bill and LoRaine Chase of St. Clair, Mo., he transfers to Lincoln Christian from Fontbonne University, where he played for one season. He intends to major in business administration or general ministry at Lincoln Christian.

LCC is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association and participates in six intercollegiate sports: men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer and men's baseball.
