62, of Atlanta died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at 10:30 p.m. at
St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Arrangements are pending at
Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.

LINCOLN -- Thomas John Bates,
48, of Lincoln, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 8:24 p.m. at
Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at
the funeral home, with J.K. Jones and Craig Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Steenbergen
Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Mr. Bates was a truck driver
for Garland Gehrke Trucking Co. He previously worked as a
correctional officer at Lincoln and Logan Correctional Center
and was a locksmith for five years.
He was born July 27, 1956, in
Lincoln to John N. and Estella Mae Grandfield Bates. He
married Linda Musick in Mount Pulaski on June 17, 1977.
He is survived by his wife, of
Lincoln; one daughter, Angela Bates of Lincoln; one son, Seth
Bates of Lincoln; one grandson, Cole Kindred; and two
brothers, Roger (and Karen) Bates of Mount Pulaski and Randall
(and JoAnn) Bates of Mount Pulaski.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; an uncle, Robert "Gomer" Bates; and a cousin,
Danny "Boonie" Lee.
He was a member of Jefferson
Street Christian Church of Lincoln and Beason's Sportsmen
Club.
He was an avid outdoor
sportsman and bass fisherman and fished in tournaments at Lake
Clinton and Lake Sangchris.

college funds for Seth Bates or Cole Kindred.

MASON CITY -- Ethel Mae Schoonover, 94,
of Mason City died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 1:30 a.m. at her
home.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
at the Mason City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be
from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial of ashes will be in Mason City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Schoonover was a homemaker for her
family.
She was born March 25, 1911, at Milltown,
Ky., to John Wesley and Minnie Beard Skaggs. She married
Robert J. Schoonover in Teheran on Dec. 27, 1933. He preceded
her in death.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann
Bowles of Mason City, Janet Schoonover of Mason City, Patricia
(and Roger) Jones of Mesa, Ariz., and Martha (and Don) Scaff
of Wyoming, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three
brothers, four sisters, one granddaughter and one son-in-law.
She was a member of the Mason City United
Methodist Church and a past member of the Mason County Home
Extension.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Mason City United Methodist Church or American Lung
Association.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Lois Irene
Wines, 68, of Mount Pulaski died Friday, April 8, 2005, at
10:40 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
She retired from employment
with the state of Illinois. She also worked as a CNA at
Vonderleith Living Center and was a mother and homemaker.
Her funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at Veail Chapel, Steenbergen Cemetery, with Bill
Shanle officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the
service.
Burial will be Steenbergen
Cemetery.

Funeral Home of Mount Pulaski handled arrangements.
She was born Sept. 29, 1936,
at St. Peter to Edward Everett and Mabel Elma McCormick
Pruett. She married Raymond Laverne Wines in Clinton on April
12, 1952. He died Sept. 11, 1998.
She is survived by four
daughters, Verna (and Barry) Leach of Mount Pulaski, Patty
(and Lee) Koenig of Chestnut, Sharon (and Ernest) Keppler of
Riverton, Debbie (and Rico) Perez of San Diego, Calif.; five
grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Qualls of Temple, Texas; and
one uncle, Don (and Ruth) McCormick of Mount Pulaski.
She was also preceded in death
by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She was of the Christian
faith.
She was a member of Royal
Neighbors of America, TOPS and was a Girl Scout leader.
Memorials may be made to Mount
Pulaski Fire Department, Alzheimer's research, Hospice Care of
Illinois or Maple Ridge Care Centre.
