Bicentennial -- 1809 - 2009 celebration begins
The City of Lincoln's "First city to live the
legacy," celebration kicked-off Sunday evening with special guests
Senator Larry Bomke, President Abraham Lincoln (interpreted by Gary
Simpkins), State Rep. Rich Brauer, Mayor Beth Davis, Rep. Lt. Gov.
candidate Joe Birkett, Congressman Ray LaHood and Lincoln College
president John Hutchinson. The speakers joined in singing the Star
Spangled Banner led by Mary Kay (Fedor) Lorenz on the steps to Lincoln
College's University Hall.
