MOUNT PULASKI -- A memorial service for
John W. Holmes, 87, of Mount Pulaski will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at
Veail Chapel, with Bill Shanle officiating. Burial will be in
Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski. |
Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln. Mr. Holmes died Feb. 13, 2007, at
11:50 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.
He was a retired golf course superintendent and
farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines
during World War II.
He was born March 15, 1920, in Logan County to
Obed Everett and Mae Sallee Holmes. He married Dolly
L. Fulk on Aug. 8, 1950, in Mount Pulaski. She
preceded him in death Oct. 12, 1989.
He is survived by one son, Everett (and Vickie)
Holmes of Princeton; one daughter, Shewan "Tootie"
Holmes of Mount Pulaski; and four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Harold and Everett Holmes, and two sisters, Marilyn
Troyer and Evelyn Holmes. He was the last of his
immediate family. |
Memorials may be made to the food pantry in Mount
Pulaski or the CIEDC homemaker program.
