This
photograph shows Nikki
Bradshaw Carpenter and two of her three sons, Layne, 7, (left) and
Ethan, 2, in Yazoo City, Miss., on
April 11. Carpenter lost her life while
trying to shield her three children, including Austin, 1, from the
soaring winds of a deadly twister Saturday. Rodney Bradshaw, her
cousin, said he found Carpenter pinned by two collapsed walls, a
washing machine and refrigerator. The trailer the family lived in
was tossed over 100 yards. Two of her sons were underneath her, a
third at her feet -- all three alive.
