This weekend's storms produced this picture of the CCA tower being lit up by a bolt of lightning. Fortunately our community avoided the devastation that hit other parts of central Illinois as seven tornadoes hit ground in other communities.

In this August 1943 file photo, Himan Brown, right, works in a CBS radio studio in New York. Brown, who created dramas that used sound effects like a creaking door and a steam engine to enthrall listeners during the golden age of radio, has died at the age of 99. Brown died in his Manhattan apartment on Friday, his family said.

Congratulations to Austin Kruse and Hannah D'Andrea of Lincoln Junior High School. At the IESA 7AA State Track Meet at EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Kruse received fifth place in the high jump, while D'Andrea got sixth place in the 100-meter dash and seventh place in the 200-meter dash.
