In
a file photo from Oct. 12, 1933, about 1,000 people gather
around the statue of Christopher Columbus high atop a
six-story column in New York's Columbus Circle, to pay
tribute to the great navigator on the 441st anniversary
of his discovery of America. Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi
has encased the 70-foot-tall column in scaffolding and
is in the process of erecting a living room -- complete
with couch, coffee table and lamps -- around the figure
of Columbus. Some Italian-Americans say the art project
makes a mockery of the great explorer and trivializes
history.

Their hearts forever.
Dear
Family/Friends
We the family of Peggy L. Payne Fuhrer want to express
our sincere thanks and appreciation to all who were so
very generous to us and our mother during her illness as
well as her passing. The prayers, donations,
flowers, plants, and food, did so much to ease our
sorrow.
We would like to say a special thanks to the staff of
Christian Village for your kind words, compassionate
care, and friendship shown to our mother as well as
Minister Mark Weber and the congregation of Mt. Pulaski
Christian Church for a memorial service and luncheon
that touched us all.
We were reminded that in difficult times like these how
lucky we are to have family and friends such as all of
you.
