One
thing was for certain Saturday night at the Streator Woodland Class 1A
volleyball supersectional: Toppers were going to win because, ironically,
both Mount Pulaski and their opponent, Danville Schlarman, are nicknamed the
Toppers. However, it was the Toppers of Mount Pulaski who came out on top, winning
in two sets 25-10 and 25-11.
This
supersectional win for Mount Pulaski means the next stop is Redbird Arena in
Normal, home of the volleyball state finals. Mount Pulaski (32-8) will play Valmeyer
on Friday at 9 a.m. Mount Pulaski placed second in the 2011 Class 1A state
finals, while Valmeyer will be making its first state appearance in
school history.
