Daniel Day-Lewis, center, as
President Abraham Lincoln, looks across a battlefield in the
aftermath of a terrible siege in this scene from director Steven
Spielberg's drama "Lincoln."
The movie is modeled after the novel by
historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, "Team of Rivals: The Political
Genius of Abraham Lincoln," a detailed chronicle of the unlikely
alliances Lincoln formed with political opponents who initially
considered him an unqualified upstart.
"Lincoln" opens in limited release Nov. 9 and nationwide Nov. 16, just after the U.S. presidential
election.
