Thursday
evening Darrell Knauer was named the Casimir
Pulaski Distinguished Citizen for this year and
Marilyn Tanner-Blasiar was recognized with the
Casmir Pulaski Distinguished Alumni Award at a
reception and dinner in their honor. The
event at the Mount Pulaski American Legion
was also a fundraiser for the Mount Pulaski
Courthouse Foundation. The foundation has
been formed to help secure funding that will
keep the courthouse in good repair for future
generations.

Bosco, a spokeswoman for the family of Stacy Peterson, speaks
outside the Will County Courthouse in Joliet on
Thursday after a jury convicted former
Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson of
murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
Peterson, the former suburban Chicago police officer who
generated a media storm after his much-younger fourth
wife, Stacy Peterson, vanished in 2007, was convicted in
a case based mainly on secondhand hearsay statements
from the two women.

coupe that featured in the James Bond film is the top
attraction at a charity auction marking the 50th anniversary of
the first 007 film, "Dr. No." Christie's auctioneers said
Thursday the car, a 2008 model, is expected to sell for at least
100,000 pounds ($160,000) at an invitation-only auction on Oct.
5. Proceeds will benefit Barnardo's, a British children's
charity.
