Koehler is the subject of one of the most dramatic of all the photos (left) taken during the Oasis fire in June. The photos were being offered for sale during a firefighter appreciation event Sunday afternoon.

Slowly but surely, work continues on The Mill on 66, thanks to the dedication of the members of the Route 66 Heritage Foundation and funds made possible from private donors as well as grants from the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway and Lincoln Rotary.  Wednesday will be a cleanup day at The Mill, but it will also be a day for the public to stop in and say hello to some of the members of the foundation and take a tour of The Mill and see where they are on their restoration project.

Vehicles line the grass parking area of the Lincoln Futbol Club complex on Saturday morning as hundreds of out-of-town visitors converged on the city for the second annual Route 66 soccer tournament. The two-day event brought in dozens of teams from around the state, along with their families, friends and fans.
