On
Monday afternoon, Holocaust survivor Marion
Blumenthal Lazan addressed the classes of the
Lincoln Junior High School. Among the total
enrollment, 20 students from each of the three grade
levels -- sixth, seventh and eighth -- were selected
as the top winners in an essay competition about
World War II and the Holocaust. Each of the winners
received a signed copy of Lazan's book "Four Perfect
Pebbles." Lazan was a toddler when her family was
ripped from their home in Germany and placed in
detention camps. All the members of her family
survived the ordeal, though her father died within
just a few weeks of the family's liberation. LDN
will have more about this special event at Lincoln
Junior High in a future edition.
