Logan County Boasts TWO
State Champion Volleyball Teams


The 2017 Class 7-1A State Champions - the Hartsburg-Emden Stags. Hartem defeated Grayville in three sets Tuesday night to win the state championship. After losing the first set 22-25 the Stags bounced back to take set two 25-22 and then dominated in set three to win 25-8. For the complete story and to learn what milestone Head Coach Jennifer Hayes reached please see Thursday’s edition of LDN. Congratulations, Stags!

The 2017 Class 7-2A State Champions - the Mount Pulaski Honeybears. Mount Pulaski defeated Mason City Illini Central in three sets Tuesday night to win the state championship. After losing the first set 25-19 the Honeybears bounced back to take set two 25-20. Set three was anybody’s ballgame as the two teams battled back and forth to rest at a 16-16 tie before the Honeybears took charge and were able to pull off the 25-18 win. A complete story on the championship game between Mount Pulaski and Illini Central coming in Thursday’s edition of LDN. Congratulations to the Honeybears!


The 2017 Class 7-2A state runner-up team is the Illini Central Lady Cougars of Mason City. The Lady Cougars fell to Mount Pulaski 25-19, 20-25 and 18-25 Tuesday night. Illini Central finished the season with 24 wins and 3 losses. Congratulations to the Lady Cougars on a very successful season.
