July 2017, Lincoln College announced that it would transition from a
two-year college to a four-year university. At the same time the
college introduced the "Embracing our Past, Empowering our Future"
fundraising project. The goal was to raise $8 million by the year
2020. The money would be utilized to implement the transition.
With LC Board of Trustee Chairman Susan Hoblit looking on, Campaign
Chairman John Blackburn (left) and President David Gerlach unveiled
the fundraising board. They happily announced that one year earlier
than expected, Lincoln College has reached and exceeded the goal by
than $1 M for a total of $9,632,837.

Helping
people who cannot do for themselves
is the sign of a caring person but
it’s an especially appreciated trait
in healthcare professionals.
Recently an individual with special
needs was admitted to Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital and they
were very upset and crying about
wanting a new shirt. It became a
source of despair for the patient.
Respiratory therapist Melanie
Crowder promptly stepped into
action. She searched the hospital
for a new shirt and brought it to
the patient to calm them down and it
allowed for better care.
On July 8, Crowder was named the
July Colleague of the Month to
recognize her consistent efforts to
provide high quality care and do
more than expected.
