Out
in the county on Thursday, snow caused more than its
fair share of trouble for those who had to be out in it.
On county roads running north and southbound roads were
snow-packed, slick and hazardous. The east-west bound
roads were drifting terribly. On Interstate 55 between
Lincoln and Williamsville, traffic accidents were being
called in minute-by-minute for several hours. The
Illinois State Police issued numerous requests asking
people to get off the highway and stay off if at all
possible.

While
no one wants to diminish the dangers involved in
the kind of snow and wind we have seen in Logan
County the last couple of days, for local
children, those big piles of snow posed a new
kind of playground, and many were very excited
about it.
LDN reader Sasha Schreiner sent this photo of a
make-shift snowman created from a massive pile
of snow. We can only imagine how tall that mound
is and how long it will take it to melt!
Lincoln Daily News will have about 18 pictures
from our readers in today's edition and tons
more to come over the next few days. Thanks to
all who have submitted and we encourage those
who have not to please do so via email at
ldneditor@lincolndaily
news.com or via Facebook
messenger.
