Illinois
Senator Sally Turner is supporting a state bill to cap
the motor fuel tax on gasoline at $0.18 per gallon. The
tax rate is charged by the gallon, not according to
price and is currently $0.392. Turner says that capping
the tax will save Illinois motorists approximately $1
billion over 12 months.
The gas prices in Lincoln are taking a steep climb. On
Monday the price of gasoline was $4.19 per gallon. On
Thursday evening, the price at the same station had
risen $0.30 to $4.49 per gallon.
Read Turner's full press release in today's edition of
Lincoln Daily News.
