SHOP LOGAN COUNTY

The 33rd Annual Christmas on Vinegar Hill was hosted in Mount Pulaski this past Saturday. It was a huge day for shoppers and vendors who filled area schools and other public meeting places for a day of shopping from craft vendors and home-based business owners. The day was busy from beginning to end. The icing on the Christmas Cupcake was the annual Ball Brothers concert at the Mount Pulaski Christian Church Family Life Center. After all the shopping, guests sat back and enjoyed a Christmas concert that left them relaxed and mellow at the end of the day.

On Saturday, the Village of Elkhart hosted its annual downtown businesses open house day with The Station, Country Bumpkin, Birdsong, and Horsefeathers participating. Each business hosted an open house and offered up refreshments and, of course, plenty of buying opportunities.

At the Country Bumpkin, owner Gillette Ransom was pulling double duty, acting as the hostess for her open house but also quite busy taking reservations for the Christmas at Gillette Chapel coming up on December 3rd.

Ransom said that demand for reservations was so huge that the Elkhart Historical Society had just decided to offer a second event on Sunday, December 4th. It will be a 2 p.m. matinee and a repeat of the Saturday performance.

Ransom is hopeful that there will be a good response to the Sunday addition and said if so, it may become an annual offering. To make a reservation for Sunday, December 4th, for the Gillette Chapel 2022 Christmas Candlelight Services, call 217-947-2238.

LDN will have additional coverage from the open houses in Elkhart in its Tuesday edition.
