Our two Pink Shirt pictures for the weekend edition of Lincoln Daily News are Experience Beauty Bar and Farm and Home Supply in Lincoln. The latter was taken Thursday evening during the Ladies’ Night event at the popular retailer and features the staff in the pink shirts they wore throughout the evening. The first picture is a new beauty salon that is growing in popularity daily.

While the beauty bar focuses on making lovely ladies feel even lovelier all the time, Farm and Home was dedicating a special evening to ladies to encourage them to shop, enjoy, and buy for themselves for a change.

We tie this together with the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Awareness Month by citing an article written by ACS concerning self-care during the breast cancer battle. The article states clearly that when we feel better about ourselves we face adversity, including severe illness, with greater determination, optimism, and in general more fight.

So, if you are a warrior, be sure to take time to pamper yourself just a bit. Follow the daily routines you had before your diagnosis to the best of your ability. Talk to your doctor before having manicures or pedicures but if you get the green light, indulge just a bit. Buy yourself a piece of jewelry that you’ve been wanting or buy a new outfit that makes you feel pretty.

It’s all good, and the good you do for yourself on the outside will help with the good you’re doing for yourself on the inside.
