Are you aware
that Illinois geology has been impacted by two
glacier periods? The map shows the green glacier
which occurred about 15,000 years ago and the pink
glacier which occurred about 150,000 years ago.
Logan County was impacted by both.
This is just one of the many interesting geological
details Dr. Pam Moriearty shared this past Monday
evening with members and guests at the March meeting
of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical
Society in Lincoln.
Moriearty is not a geologist but became deeply
interested in the topic about a year and a half ago.
Since then, she has reached out to many resources to
get a better look at what lies beneath the surface
in Logan County.
