Today, Lincoln Daily News is approaching the end of the pink shirt photos for 2024 with only two left to run in the Saturday edition.

Two of the three photos today come from Holzwarth Flying Service and Lincoln Speedway. Both of these photos represent people who are literally putting their safety at risk on a regular basis. Imagine the skill needed and the danger involved in flying a crop plane just feet above the ground at what looks like break-neck speeds, then pulling up making a sharp turn and doing it again…and again…and again.

And what is racing? Drive fast and turn left time and again, and always at a breakneck speed. One wrong move and you go careening into a fence or wall, or end up sliding across the track on the hood of the race car….if there is one!

But also imagine the adrenaline rush that might come at the end of both of these activities. The thrill of success, the sense of accomplishment.

This is the factor we want to dwell on as we reach the end of this season of pink. When a warrior is announced cancer free, it has to be a rush. There must be that thrill of success and that sense of accomplishment. Our wish for every warrior in our community and around the world is that they will have that wonderful experience come to them in the near future.

The third picture we are featuring today is that of the staff at Agland FS. These are the people who take care of our farmers and assist them in being good stewards of the soil that makes up our agricultural communities. They are an integral part of the success of each fall harvest, even though they may be most utilized early in the process.

This reminds us of those who are the foundation of the care and treatment of our cancer warriors, the doctors, the nurses, technicians, and many others who are entrusted to be the root source of the treatment process and the outcome for the warrior.

What they do is invaluable, and we want to thank them for their dedication. Like the folks in all three of these pictures they have chosen to do what they do and regardless of the outcome, they are there for the long haul.

Congratulations to Miss Lee’s sixth grade class at Lincoln Junior High School. The students were the overall winners of this year’s Coins for a Cause to benefit the American Cancer Society.

All local schools were invited to participate in the fundraising effort where that students brought their change to school and placed it in the collection by classroom.

See other top fundraising classes in today’s edition of Lincoln Daily News.
