Walking and biking is a great way to get exercise, and it can be enjoyable when done outside where
that you can see nature at its best, and sometimes come across friends and neighbors who enjoy
the same form of exercise. It has long been known that the Lincoln/Logan County area needs a
designated walking and biking area. A group of individuals, working with the county as well as
the cities of Atlanta and Lincoln are making progress in establishing such a trail. On Saturday the
Abraham Lincoln Legacy Trail group had a large display showing the future goals to have a walking
and biking path for the public. The trail in its first stage would leave the city of Lincoln going north
toward Union. Eventually the group hopes to have a trail from Lincoln to Atlanta and perhaps
beyond. Both Lincoln and Atlanta have also approved marking designated streets in their respective
towns for walking and biking.
For those who enjoy walking, there
were also opportunities to sign up for
events to be held later this spring and
summer that will turn walking into
dollars for some very worthy causes.
Members were on hand signing folks
up for the annual MS Walk, as well as
Relay for Life.
