Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 28, 2003]  URBANA -- As the Christmas season approaches, many people make holiday plans that include the traditional tree. User-friendly information about types of Christmas trees as well as the locations of tree farms in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin is available on a University of Illinois Extension website. "Christmas Trees & More" is part of the Urban Programs Resource Network, located at http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu.

"The site is located under the "Hort Corner" icon, or you can go to it directly at http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/trees/index.html," said Jane Scherer, U of I Extension urban programs specialist.

The site contains information about the various types of Christmas trees as well as helpful hints on making a selection.

"We've updated the site this year, and it includes links to other Christmas tree sites that people might find interesting," said Scherer.

There is even a recipe for Christmas tree cookies as well as instructions on homemade tree ornaments. The site also includes links to information about the care of holiday plants.
