Fireworks fizzle!

[JULY 2, 2003]  If you are one of those who like to set off a few home fireworks and you still haven't gotten yours, you may miss out on your favorites this year. Lincoln police went out this morning (Wednesday) to the city's four fireworks tents to deliver a list of 18 restricted items.

The new Illinois attorney general, Lisa Madigan, has issued a stop-sales order for all but the safest fireworks. The restrictions were ordered as the result of pending court cases in two Illinois counties. A Kane County judge contacted the attorney general's office with the recommendation toward the injunction based on the case State Fire Marshal v. Four Seasons International.

You can still purchase snappers, party poppers, toy smoke devices, snakes, glow works, wire sticks and sparklers from the local vendors and other sources.
