Following
an action-packed season of baseball, an all-star team was selected
from Bronco League players for Lincoln, Mason City and Mount
Pulaski. In preparation for the Pony League regional tournament for
11- and 12-year-olds, which will be hosted by Lincoln beginning
Monday, July 14, the Lincoln Area All-Stars have been busy playing
six games in four days. The team is sponsored by Triple T
Promotionals.

First, Triple T played an exhibition
doubleheader against McLean County, winning the first game 8-6. Kyle
Young was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, scoring two runs and
knocking in two. Cole Brownfield and Alex Bradshaw each contributed
two hits on the night. In the second game, Triple T was bested by
McLean County 16-9. Perfect at the plate in the game was Brett
Montgomery, who went 4-for-4, scoring two runs. Kyle Young and Dylan
Eimer each had two hits.
Next, Triple T participated in the
Chatham Invitational Friday-Sunday. Getting off to a slow start, the
Lincoln Area All-Stars lost their first two games, then bounced back
to win their next two. In Game 1, Triple T lost 10-0 to the host
Chatham Slam. The Slam held Triple T to two hits in the game, one by
Brett Montgomery and the other by Kyle Young. In Game 2, against
Edwardsville, Triple T got off to a good start, leading 3-0 before
mistakes in the field took them out of the game for a 13-3 final.
Hits in the game came from Brett Montgomery, Devon Biggs, Trent
Gardner and Matt Leslie.

The Lincoln area team seemed to hit its
stride in its final two games of the invitational, defeating Mount
Zion 6-4 in Game 3. For a change, it was pitching that set the tone
for the game. Tad Juilfs pitched four solid innings, giving up only
two earned runs while striking out seven. Bryce Hunsley relieved
Juilfs, pitching three innings and not allowing a run. Juilfs helped
his own cause at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Alex
Bradshaw also contributed well at the plate, with two hits and two
runs scored.
Triple T Promotionals' best game came
on Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Chatham Cobras 14-5 in
Game 4 of the invitational. In this game, the Lincoln Area All-Stars
combined good pitching with good hitting. Brett Montgomery, Tyson
Smith and Kyle Young combined to hold the Chatham team to four hits
and only two earned runs. Montgomery had three hits and scored two
runs. Smith was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Alex Bradshaw had
his third multiple-hit game of the all-star season, with two
singles.
The Lincoln
Area All-Stars play their first game as hosts in the Pony League
tournament on the Bronco field Tuesday evening at 8.
