The Senate
Republican Task Force on Veterans will meet at Camp Lincoln in the
RTI building, classrooms 1B and C on Friday, Nov. 7. State and local
officials have been invited to testify on the needs of veterans
today. Area veterans wishing to testify should call (217) 782-2443
to be placed on the agenda. The meeting is open to the public.

The Senate Republican Task
Force on Veterans was formed by Senate Republican Leader Frank
Watson, R-Greenville, to gather information and craft legislation on
the changing needs of veterans, taking into consideration the
state's limited budget resources.
State Sen. Adeline Geo-Karis,
R-Zion, will chair the meeting. Other members of the task force are
Sens. John O. Jones, R-Mount Vernon; Bill Peterson, R-Long Grove;
Todd Sieben, R-Geneseo; and Ray Soden, R-Wood Dale. Sen. Larry Bomke,
R-Springfield, and Reps. Raymond Poe, R-Williamsville, and Rich
Brauer, R-Petersburg, have also been invited to attend.
This
is the second of three hearings. The task force met in October at
the Veterans Administration Headquarters in North Chicago and will
schedule a final meeting in southern Illinois.
