A change from the schedule announced
earlier has Illinois playing Providence in the Jimmy V Classic at
Madison Square Garden on Dec. 9 instead of playing in the Coaches
vs. Cancer event in November.
The date for the game against
Maryland-Eastern Shore was moved to Dec. 11.
The Illini open the home portion of the
schedule Nov. 22, when they host Western Illinois at the Assembly
Hall.
The Illini also have the Big Ten/ACC
Challenge matchup against North Carolina in Greensboro, N.C., two
games at the United Center in Chicago and the 23rd annual Busch
Braggin' Rights game against Missouri in St. Louis.
The Illini will host Arkansas at the
United Center on Saturday, Dec. 6, as part of a doubleheader with
the Illini women who play Illinois State. The second Illini game in
Chicago will be against Illinois-Chicago and former Illini assistant
coach Jimmy Collins on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
"This non-conference schedule is as
competitive as anyone in America will play," Weber said. "We'll have
to be prepared to play in midseason form in November, which should
have us ready for Big Ten play come January. We worked very hard
over the last several weeks to get the schedule finalized, and we
are excited to be playing in the Jimmy V Classic against Providence.
We will be thoroughly tested in November and December. The
neutral-site games against North Carolina, Arkansas, Providence and
Missouri should give us a good idea of what it will be like in
March."
Remaining television and game-time
information will be released when available.
