NORMAL
-- The Illinois State
men's basketball return game against Marshall that was to be played
on Dec. 6 has been rescheduled. It was originally to be part of
the ESPN Bracket Buster Saturday event. The game will be played
during the 2004-05 season at Redbird Arena in order to oblige ESPN.

However, the Redbirds will
still be hosting a game on Dec. 6 at Redbird Arena, as Illinois
State will face Eastern Michigan in the first game of a
home-and-home series. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Marshall
will travel to Portland, Ore., to face Oregon in ESPN's Pape Jam.
Head coach Porter Moser is
satisfied with the change and sees some long-term benefits.
"On the scheduling side, we
have the opportunity to play another MAC team, which is a very good
league," Moser said.
"Additional benefits to this
change, we feel, is our relationship with ESPN and the benefits we
could receive from accommodating them. ESPN is the premier platform
for college basketball, and when this program goes to new heights,
which it will, a positive relationship with ESPN will be beneficial
down the road."

ESPN regional television
general manager Dan Shoemaker was grateful.
"We
really appreciate coach Porter Moser and director of athletics Perk
Weisenburger for accommodating us on this move so that we could
finalize this process," said Dan Shoemaker at ESPN. "We appreciate
the flexibility and cooperation of Illinois State, Eastern Michigan
and Marshall regarding this event. We're confident that this will
benefit all the parties involved."
