How do you like those apples?

Jan Schacht, executive director of the Lincoln "Y," stands in front of a pallet of apple juice and apples. Thanks to a grant and in conjunction with the Central Illinois Foodbank, 5,000 pounds of healthy snacks were delivered to the Y to be passed out to children during activities. It's all part of a program to help promote healthy choices for kids and to help stem the tide of childhood obesity. Another picture of the donation is in today's Community section.

Krista Miller with the Lincoln "Y" stands by boxes of granola and fruit bars that will be used for treats and meals during Y activities. The foods were received from the Central Illinois Foodbank thanks to a grant and are enough to have healthy choices for youngsters well into the activities of the summer months.
