Governor invites you to join him at the state fair     Send a link to a friend

To the editor:

On Aug. 8, 1 will have the distinct pleasure of officially opening the 151st Illinois State Fair in Springfield. This year's fair is shaping up to be one of the best ever, and I would like to invite area residents to join my family and me in enjoying the many exciting events at the Illinois State Fair Aug. 8-17.

The Illinois State Fair is devoted to providing the best that Illinois agriculture has to offer, including daily livestock events, horticulture competitions, food bake-offs and sampling of Illinois food products.

[to top of second column in this letter]

In addition to this commitment to agriculture, the state fair provides a family-friendly environment filled with activities, food and exhibits. Eleven free stages of entertainment give every fair goer the opportunity to join in the fun and excitement. The grandstand lineup promises star-studded performances by some of our nation's best entertainers as well as motor sports. The Illinois State Fair combines agriculture, food and family fun to make it the premier summer attraction in the Midwest.

You can find more information about the host of daily adventures by logging onto www.illinoisstatefair.info. There are activities and entertainment to provide enjoyment for all ages, and I hope you can come join the fun. See you at the Illinois State Fair Aug. 8-17 in Springfield!

Rod R. Blagojevich
Governor
State of Illinois
