[DEC. 10, 2003]  Tickets are now on sale for the 2003 State Farm Holiday Classic, which will be Dec. 26-27 and 29-30 in Bloomington-Normal.

All-tournament passes are available at Read's Sporting Goods, 812 IAA Drive in Bloomington; Tom's Parkway Foods, 1710 R.T. Dunn Road in Bloomington; or through the tournament’s official website, www.theclassic.org. Passes are $20 for adults and $15 for students. All-tournament passes and individual game tickets will be available on game day at the various venues.

The 64-team State Farm Holiday Classic, which is the largest coed high school basketball tournament in the nation, features four top-notch fields. All four of last year's champions will return to defend their 2002 State Farm Holiday Classic titles:

--Class A girls: Normal University High, the No. 7-ranked team in the state in the preseason Associated Press poll

--Class AA girls: Peoria Richwoods, also the No. 7-ranked team in preseason polls

--Class A boys: Quincy Notre Dame, the No. 2-ranked Class A team in the state and winners of the past two State Farm Holiday Classic titles

--Class AA boys: South Holland Thornwood, last year's AA state runner-up and four-time defending State Farm Holiday Classic champions

"Our committee has done a great job of bringing in state-caliber teams from throughout Illinois, and this year we even stretched into Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Louisiana," said Dave Oloffson, vice-president of Classic Tournament Inc. "With Galesburg (nine straight sectional titles and four state trophies in the past six years) and Chicago Marshall (seven state titles), we have two of the most storied programs in Illinois' girls basketball history. On the boys’ side we have a state runner-up (Thornwood) and a team that's ranked No. 2 in the state (Quincy Notre Dame). Fans may be getting an early preview of the teams that will be coming to Bloomington-Normal and Peoria in late February and March for the state championships."

The pairings for the 64-team field will be unveiled on Tuesday, Dec. 16. For the brackets and more information on the 2003 State Farm Holiday Classic, visit www.theclassic.org.
