No
doubt, we've experienced unseasonably mild
temperatures in the last few days, but winter
isn't officially here yet, and there are no
guarantees that it won't eventually turn nasty. The Logan County Emergency Management Agency,
Illinois EMA, National Weather Service and
American Red Cross want you to be prepared.
LDN has their
Winter preparedness guide
posted in our Health and Leisure section under
Food, Family and Fun. Be sure to check it
out, even print it out, and use it as a guide to
help keep you and your family safe this winter
season.

Airport
workers look at a bus that crashed into a
concrete overpass at Miami International Airport
in Miami on Saturday. The vehicle
was too tall for the 8-foot, 6-inch entrance to
the arrivals area, and buses are supposed to go
through the departures area, which has a higher
ceiling, according to an airport representative.

This Thursday
photo shows National Public Radio host and journalist Michelle
Norris in her home in Washington. Two years ago, Norris was
embarking on a tour for her book about her family's racial
secrets and wanted to find a way to engage and learn from her
audiences. So she printed up postcards asking people to express
their thoughts on race in just six words. Twelve thousand
postcards later, the Race Card Project has created a new type of
discussion about race in America.
