Sunday
afternoon, Lincoln became the owner of another piece
of art. The Cow in the corn was created by local
artists Moses Pinkerton and Jason Hoffman. The
statue was erected in the Busby-Turner park on South
Sangamon Street just south of Hoffman's statue
"Constellation." Early in the day Main Street
Lincoln president Tracy Welch arrived to present
Pinkerton and Hoffman with a check for just over
$2,000; the proceeds of an online fundraiser
initiated by MSL executive director Bill Hoagland.
It took several hours and a few "technical
difficulties" to get the statue standing upright,
but by 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the volunteers working
on the project were ready to celebrate a great
achievement. Lincoln Daily News was there, on the
scene the entire afternoon, and will bring you a
complete photo journal of the event in the Tuesday
edition.
