Salt Creek on
Quarry Road |
Although
it seems that it rains every day in Logan County, in
the Lincoln area accumulations have not been all
that great compared to what has gone on to our north
and south. However, as those rains work their way
into public waterways, places like Salt Creek are
rising. High water can be fun for boaters, but it
can also be very dangerous. The Illinois Department
of Natural Resources (IDNR) encourages boaters to
stay off the water when levels rise.
With ground already saturated, any heavy rain can
result in flash flooding of roadways. Do not enter
fast or unknown depth water and use caution driving
in rural areas. Also consult the National Weather
Service maps for current warning areas before
travel.
