What to do about the Logan County Public Transportation system has been a topic of great concern for many in the community. Community Action Agency has been running the system with county oversight for a couple of years.  Though mostly federal funded by grant, the state is unable to commit its smaller matching portion of the grant during the budget impasse.  The September County Board meeting was filled with people who use the system, spokes persons from healthcare that see patients who are transported via the system, and employees who would like to keep their jobs. The board deferred taking action in hope of some resolution that would keep the system operated under Community Action. A reduced service is temporarily taking people to necessary medical appointments.

When many come together for the greater good of one, in spite of their own needs, it becomes a testament to what community is all about. This week farmers and agri-business people are setting aside time from their busy schedules to help out a friend and neighbor. When Rick Harbarger fell ill and subsequently had to have heart surgery, it left no one to care for the fall harvest on his farm. But his friends and neighbors stepped up and came out to the farm in full force to help the Harbargers. Pictured above are those who so generously gave of their time.
