On Thursday afternoon, the Christian Village in Lincoln hosted a grand opening and ribbon cut for its new facility, Grace Point, which is a rehab to home temporary residential center. In honor of the occasion, the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce led a ribbon cut at the front door of the new building. Representing the Chamber were Maggie McMurtrey and Chamber Ambassador Roy Logan. Manning the scissors at the cut were Christian Village President Dr. Timothy Phillippe and Village Administrator Jo Hilliard. Also on hand representing the chamber were Jean Bruner-Jachino and Kari Adams. Following the cut, the large crowd in attendance was invited inside for a tour of the new facility and refreshments.

Vegeta Tanner is a Scout with Lincoln Boy Scout Troop 4111. He is working to earn his Communication Merit Badge. To do so, he was required to write a piece for a local newspaper. Vageta chose to report on a recent hike his Troop took starting at New Salem State Park.

Here is his report:

Troop 4111 went on a 20 mile hike from New Salem State Park to Springfield. The participants included Vegeta Tanner, age 12; Aries Tanner, age 11; Zach Schafer, age 15; Damian Tibbs, age 13; Daniel Hawkins, age 16; leaders Melissa Tanner, Jason Schafer, and Kenna Schafer. Kenna Schaefer was our chase car driver. I saw horses, wild onions, snakes, groundhogs, and a hawk. I liked feeding the horses hay, and I liked finishing the hike, but boy, I never want to do it again!
