Today our Paint the Paper Pink pictures feature four of our District 27 schools in Lincoln. Adams, Central, and Northwest Grade School staff along with staff for Lincoln Junior High School are all excited to share their pink with the community.

As research expands in the area of prevention for breast cancer, as well as many other cancers, it is being stressed that a healthy lifestyle helps prevent the disease. In our schools, students are learning about living a healthier lifestyle through the CATCH programs.

Our teachers and staff also know that it is good to lead by example and teach by doing. So, they are all happy to put on their pink to show our community that they support and have compassion for those battling cancer. They also to serve as an example to our young people that being aware and being compassionate is part of being a good citizen.

Pink Pumpkin Auction, Thursday October 4th at Collision Concepts Doors open at 5 p.m. Auction at 6 p.m. All proceeds go to Relay for Life/American Cancer Society

Those who are familiar with car collectors will understand that to the owners of a classic car, that vehicle is as special as their children. Some children of car owners may counter that sometimes they think dad loves the car more! While we can't speak to those claims, what we can say is that when the weather is less than perfect, the classic car is generally kept under wraps.

Such was the case this past Saturday when the weather was gray, cloudy, and looked like rain. The Lincoln Masonic Lodge suffered the conditions provided by Mother Nature, with a low turn out to their first-ever classic car show at the Lodge in Lincoln.
