Paint the Paper Pink

Lincoln Land Communications

Lincoln Community High School faculty and staff

Today, the Wednesday, October 11th Pink Shirt pictures feature Lincoln Land Communications and Lincoln Community High School faculty and staff.

The obvious contrast between the two photos is that in the first there is one person and in the second there are 30 people. The similarity is that both the business and the school have the same first word in their name.

What comes to mind when we consider these two factors is the complexity of the word “cancer.” Just one word but when a person is diagnosed with the disease, it can be a devastating word indeed. And, looking at the number of people in the second picture reminds us that while it all contains the same word, there are at last count 78 cancers that can invade the human body in a variety of locations.

Breast Cancer Awareness is the primary objective of the Paint the Paper Pink project each October, but we also want all cancer warriors to know that whatever form your cancer is taking, our hearts are with you, and we want you to be a strong warrior and a survivor and so does the American Cancer Society.

At the Tuesday evening meeting of the Lincoln City Council, the first order of business was to acknowledge a promotion from patrolman to Corporal for Officer Jarad Kink of the Lincoln Police Department.

The new corporal was sworn in by city attorney John Hoblit in front of the council, Chief Joe Meister, Assistant Chief Matt Comstock, and members of his family.
