One July 26, 1775,
one year before the Declaration of Independence,
Benjamin Franklin was appointed by the Second
Continental Congress as the first Postmaster General
of the United States Postal Service.
This Friday, July 25th, at noon, the Lincoln Post Office will
observe the 250th anniversary of the USPS with a
ceremony hosted outside the building at the corner
of Broadway and McLean Streets.
The community is invited to join local postal
workers and officials, along with city officials for
a celebration on this milestone anniversary.
Also plan to stay and meet the new Lincoln
Postmaster Krista Hayes who, by the way, is the
first female Postmaster at the local facility.
