CINCINNATI,
Ohio -- The Lincoln Christian College men's basketball team defeated
perennial division powerhouse Kentucky Christian 97-86 on Thursday
night at the Cincinnati Bible College Classic. LCC garnered their
final lead with about six minutes remaining in the game and pushed
the margin away from the staggering Knights.

Both teams shot at a torrid 55 percent
clip from the field, but it was 3s and rebounding that made the
difference. The Preachers won the battle on the glass with 16 boards
and shot 44.7 percent (7-of-16) from the 3 as opposed to KCC's
3-of-10 from behind the arc.
"Our energy level in the second half
made the difference. The adjustments we made at halftime forced them
to take tough 3-point tries," commented Lincoln coach John Searby.
Scoring was led by Brian Dunaway with
28 points (11-of-21 field goals, 4-of-5 3-pointers). Tim Schultz
added 25 on 12-of-13 shooting and collected six boards (five
offensive). The only basket Schultz missed, he immediately followed
for his own tip-in. Travis Chase double-doubled with 13 points and
11 rebounds. Three players touched the net for nine points.

"Dunaway and Schultz gave outstanding
individual performances tonight, but the thing I am most pleased
with is our balance," said Searby.
With the season opener Searby tallied
his first win as a collegiate head coach. "It feels really good to
get my first victory," he said. "Hopefully, it won't be my last."
LCC plays
again in the Cincinnati Bible Classic at 2 p.m. Eastern time Friday
against regional opponent Northland Baptist.
