Redbirds open exhibition season     Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 10, 2003]  NORMAL -- Head coach Porter Moser and the Illinois State men's basketball team will take another step Monday in beginning the 2003-04 campaign, as the Redbirds host the EA Sports All-Stars in the first of two exhibition games at Redbird Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Moser will be watching how the Redbirds apply what they have learned in practice to an actual game situation.

"We are looking to see how much we carry over from our practice sessions," Moser said. "We've had 20 practices and have implemented a lot of different things. There is nothing like a game -- us against them."

The first-year Redbird coach is looking forward to playing against another team.

"We've had us against us for three weeks now, and I'm looking for the kind of attitude that comes when it is us against them," Moser added. "We've been promoting a strength in numbers and togetherness, and I'm looking forward to seeing this philosophy in action in terms of competing and executing."
