City to make business redevelopment decision tonight     Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 17, 2003]  Coming up tonight (Monday, Nov. 17):

7:15 p.m. -- The regular city council meeting will begin. In this big-issue session the council will vote on matters pertaining to bringing a Goody's and a Dollar Tree to Lincoln. The developer, Diversified Acquisition of Overland Park, Kan., has asked the city to financially partner with it in this undertaking, saying it will bring other businesses and jobs to the area.

If the lawyers for the city and the developer have worked out the agreement details, the council will vote on the following issues:

--Approval of the Business Development District at 1300-1310 Woodlawn Road.

--Approval of the Business Redevelopment Plan.

--Acceptance of the redevelopment agreement.

If you are in support or against this project, plan to attend tonight's meeting or contact a council representative to make your wishes known.

Also scheduled for a vote tonight

7 p.m. -- The Public Vehicle Licensing Board will continue discussion and possibly vote on whether to issue a license for an additional, second taxicab company. The board is to make their decision based on whether there is public need for the service. The question added to this consideration is whether or not two businesses can survive at this time in Lincoln. The license request is by Bill Shelby and Diana Malone.

The meetings are in City Hall chambers.
