Submissions requested     Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 17, 2003]  The annual Logan County Christmas Tree project in the Logan County Courthouse is being sponsored by Logan County residents again this holiday season. The 18-foot tree is displayed annually, beginning in November and throughout the holiday season. Ornaments have all been donated by area residents.

This year's theme is "Sharing Hands and Hearts of Logan County."

Churches, businesses, families, schools, service clubs, organizations and individuals are encouraged to share their highlighted stories of "Sharing Hands and Hearts of Logan County" -- how they share with their time, talents and funds to help in our community and world.

"Hands and Hearts" templates will measure approximately 8½ by 11 inches. Please submit typed or neatly written stories on paper no larger than 8½ by 11 inches. The stories will be laminated and placed around the Christmas tree. Please submit your stories to Judy Awe, 123 Crestwood Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656-1360.

Quilters at Heart Guild completed a 12-by-12-foot machine-pieced, quilted Christmas tree skirt that will be featured this year. Members donated the necessary materials and many hours of work involved in making this wonderful project. Many hands and hearts, much time and talent, and love for quilting and our community can be seen in this one-of-a-kind tree skirt.

Churches, businesses, families, schools, service clubs, organizations and individuals are encouraged to donate an ornament or a photo for framing.

--Ornaments should not exceed 6 inches square or weigh more than 8 ounces.

--All ornaments must be submitted in an appropriate box for future storage.

--All photos must be submitted in an envelope. Frames will be handmade to fit photographs.

--All completed boxes and envelopes must include a completed label information sheet.

--All ornaments and photos will be identified, labeled and recorded in the permanent register displayed at the tree location.

--All ornaments and photos will be stored and displayed year after year.

Label information sheets may be picked up at the Logan County Courthouse security desk or by contacting Mrs. Ted (Judy) Awe, 123 Crestwood Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656-1360; phone (217) 732-4758.
