LC men's soccer team plays well against nationally ranked Springfield College     Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 24, 2003]  Lincoln College was beaten by Springfield College 3-2 in men's soccer at Freesmeier Field in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon. SCI was rated No. 2 in the nation in preseason polls.

"We actually played them very well, and we feel good that we were able to stay with a quality team," said Lincoln coach Ben Massena. "We got great games out of Chris Pettineo and Shane Dolieslager. We were very competitive against a real good team, and if we had a few more bodies, we could be real tough."

All of the goals were scored in the first half. Lincoln College goals were scored by Dolieslager, the first coming on a header off an assist from Zach Ziegler. The second came just before halftime and was assisted by Pat Barrett and Ryan Ash.

Lincoln College, 3-5, will play at Lewis and Clark on Saturday.
