LDN - Top Stories

The restoration project on the front steps of the Lincoln Public Library has been completed, and the front entrance is now open again. Refinishing of the front doors to their original luster has also been done. The rest of the current project is completion of cleaning the exterior of the library. That work is ongoing.

We see it all the time, but it is not often that we can actually catch it in a photo. Weather watcher Devin Biggs did just that Friday night. He was actually videoing the storm that passed through the area and was able to freeze this remarkable frame. This storm as well as another on Saturday dumped heavy rains in the area once again. With outdoor events going on in the area both Tuesday and this weekend, organizers are hoping Mother Nature will take a rest. More than likely local farmers are hoping so as well.

Cast members of "All in the Family" -- from left: Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton and Sally Struthers -- pose with their Emmys backstage at the 24th annual Emmy Awards in Hollywood, Calif., on May 14, 1972. O'Connor and Stapleton won outstanding continued performance by an actor and actress in a leading role in a comedy series. Struthers tied in the category of outstanding performance by an actress in a supporting role in a comedy. Stapleton has died at the age of 90. John Putch said Saturday that his mother died Friday of natural causes at her New York City home, surrounded by friends and family.
