LDN -- Top Stories

This week, security fencing was placed around the perimeter of what will soon be the new McDonald's in Lincoln. The property includes the former Tropics Restaurant as well as the former AT&T retail store. These two buildings will be demolished.

Also, the large parking area that will be built will become the new home of the Tropics sign after it is restored. During the construction of the parking lot, the special island will be put in place for the sign. According to Tropic Restoration Committee member Michelle Bauer the sign will be located with careful consideration to permitting tourists the opportunity to stop safely, park, and walk around the Route 66 landmark.
