Halloween fun about to begin     Send a link to a friend

[OCT. 21, 2003]  Thursday starts Halloween activities for Lincoln youth. Area school children in kindergarten through third grade will be bused to Lincoln Community High School at 9:30 a.m. There they will see a fun play that incorporates trick-or-treat safety tips.

Lincoln Police Chief Rich Montcalm said that they have been working with the Thespian Club at the school to sponsor this activity. He said he thought the play was good and the kids will really like it. It will also get a safety message out.

Later in the day kids can choose to go to either or both of two citywide Halloween parties.

Thursday, Oct. 30

4-6 p.m. -- Youth are invited to Maple Ridge Care Centre, 2202 N. Kickapoo St., for trick-or-treating.

6:30-8:30 p.m. -- Fun continues at Halloween Fun Fest at the Lincoln Park District. There is a question each year about who has more fun at this event: the kids or the adults who assist with games and contests. The action includes a costume parade and contest, games of all kinds, and information booths. Keepsake photos will be available for $1.50.

There will also be a carved pumpkin judging.

Friday, Oct. 31

5-8 p.m. -- House-to-house trick-or-treat will be the standard hours from the past Halloweens.
