Lincoln Police Cpl. Mark Coons received commendation for his actions during an incident the morning of May 30. A stolen vehicle suspect passed through Lincoln twice near Lincoln Community High School at speeds in excess of 100 mph at a time when students and teachers were en route to school. While the Lincoln Police Department was not involved in the pursuit, Coons took immediate and decisive action that undoubtedly averted tragedy. His actions went beyond the call of duty, Chief Stuart Erlenbush said.  [picture by Jan Youngquist] click on picture for larger image
