Wednesday morning the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce welcomed another new business to the city of Lincoln. The ElMazatlan Mexican Restaurant recently opened at 203 Madigan Drive, behind the Super 8 Motel, off of Woodlawn Road. The restaurant is a new chain in Illinois, with Lincoln being the first in the state. The company has six restaurants in Kentucky. Pictured above one of the owner/investors Jesus Gallegos on the left, and Lincoln manager Martin Leon on the right, with the help of a future restaurateur, snip the ribbon at the new business.

On Friday of last week, five members of the Abraham Lincoln Statue Committee traveled to Mount Morris. They went to view and approve the clay rendition of the new Abraham Lincoln statue that will be placed on the Logan County Courthouse Lawn early next year.

Pictured above are committee members Chuck Conzo, Mary Ellen Martin, Wanda Rohlfs, Bill Donath; artist David Seagraves, and committee member Joe Mintjal. Committee members JoAnne Marlin, Paul Gleason and John Sutton were unable to attend.
